Prime Minister Launches IG Report On Corruption In Local Government Job Recruitment
During
the launch of the report, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, delivering a speech on behalf of H.E.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, reaffirmed government’s commitment to
reforming recruitment processes. She emphasized the automation of recruitment systems as
a key measure to curb corruption and urged responsible agencies to take action
on the report’s findings.
In her remarks, the Inspector General of Government,
Hon. Beti Kamya Turwomwe,
revealed that over 35% of
public service workers admitted to paying bribes to secure
their jobs, with some even resorting to loans. She stressed that the IG’s new
strategy includes tracing and
recovering assets acquired through corruption, as part of efforts to restore
integrity in public service recruitment.
