The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has lined up over 15 witnesses to pin the former Works Minister Abraham Byandala and five others facing fraud charges over the sh24.7b lost in the Mukono-Katosi road construction deal.

Sarah Birungi, the IG head of prosecution, made the disclosure yesterday at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala.

The accused appear before deputy registrar Sarah Langa Siu to establish the status of their case.

They are set to face trial on 23 counts of abuse of office, disobedience of lawful orders, influence peddling, causing financial loss, corruption, theft, obtaining money by false pretence, uttering false documents, conspiracy to defraud, obtaining execution of a security by false pretence and causing financial loss.
