The total of 372 leaders have declared their wealth to the Inspectorate of Government (IG) using the newly introduced Online Declaration System (IG-ODS), five months since it was launched in June. Among them are 180 new Members of Parliament (MPs).
Among them are 180 new MPs. They are among those mandated to declare their financial details to the IGG in the first three months of assuming office, according to the Leadership Code Act, 2002.
The revelation was made by Mariam Wangadya, the Deputy IGG at the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology headquarters in Kampala during the training of 150 focal point persons, who are to sensitise technocrats in various government ministries and departments about the new online declaration system.
Annet Twine, the Director of Leadership Code at the IG, said the IG-ODS reduced on government expenditure where sh200m would be required every year to have the data in hard copies.
She further said the IG will procure a sh300m server that will ensure that they can easily get information from the respective people across the country.
