The Inspector General of Government, Justice Irene Mulyagonja, has ordered nine Ministry of Agriculture officials to refund about sh18m that they received as travel allowances without going to the field to verify pensioners.
Mulyagonja directed the pensioners to refund the money into the Inspectorate of Government Assets Recovery Account in Bank of Uganda within 60 days and also to be reprimanded.
In a report dated July 15, seen by New Vision, Mulyagonja said the officials from the ministry’s human resource department, failed to account for the money they received as per diem and for fuel to carry out verification of the ministry’s pensioners in 17 districts countrywide.
