Councillors Petition IGG On Grabbed Municipal Land

Following the upsurge of government plots in Mbarara Municipal Council (MMC), over 30 councillors have petitioned the Inspector General of Government (IGG) seeking redress.

Led by the Speaker Bonny Tashobya, the councillors through their lawyers of Daniel Mugisha & Co Advocates want the IGG Irene Mulyagonja to investigate reports that some municipal council officials have either grabbed the land or sold it to private investors.

The petition shows the land at Rwobuyenje in Kakika Division approximately 20 acres which MMC bought in 2003 although there are reports that there is no sale agreement. The other contested land is in Kenkombe where MMC dumps its luggage.
