Jailed former National Social Security Fund (NSSF) boss David Chandi Jamwa has asked court to release him on bail pending his appeal.
Jamwa filed the application in the court of appeal but Justice Augustine Nshimye will rule tomorrow Friday on whether to grant him bail or not.
The Anti-Corruption Court in March meted out a 12-year imprisonment sentence Jamwa after convicting him of causing a financial loss of sh3b to the fund. The Judge barred Jamwa from holding any public office for a period of 10 years after serving the sentence. Jamwa is challenging the sentence. His Lawyer David Mpanga says the Judge John Bosco Katutsi did not consider the evidence presented to court when handing down the sentence. Mpanga says the Judge considered a call from the UN to fight corruption and therefore he did not hand a just sentence to his client.
