Kampala

Fufa president Moses Magogo has up to 5pm today to surrender several original Fufa titles, including the Fufa House land title, to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) or be arrested and prosecuted for disobedience of lawful orders.

According to the source privy to the investigations, Mr Magogo had by close of business on Monday; not surrendered the wanted original titles to the Inspectorate.

The source, which preferred anonymity, said yesterday: “we are waiting until 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday) and if Mr Magogo does not surrender the wanted original titles, we shall pick it up from there…”

“I was in office till 5pm on Monday and didn’t see anything received from Mr Magogo in response to our latest communication to him…” the source added.

The IGG has the powers under the Inspectorate of Government Act, section 35 (a) and or Section 35 (c) to arrest and prosecute any individual who disobeys its lawful orders.

When contacted yesterday, Fufa spokesperson Ahmed Hussein simply said the Fufa legal team is handling the matter.

Deputy IGG George Bamugemereire, who is directly handling the case, in his May 29 letter, warned Mr Magogo that there will be no other reminder to him.

The request for the original Fufa documents is intended to help the IGG in investigations about the mismanagement of Fufa assets, the national association for football in Uganda, by an illegal entity called Fufa Ltd, whose president is Mr Magogo.

Mr Magogo in his May 28 response to the IGG said among other things that he does not have the powers to surrender the required assets. “I don’t have the mandate to individually respond to the several requests as made without the mandate and authorisation of the association membership as per the requirements of the Fufa constitution,” Mr Magogo said.
