The LC V Chairman Buliisa district, Fred Lukumu, expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner in which declaration of wealth by leaders and civil servants is handled.
Lukumu said that declaration of assets would be meaningful if all citizens had their assets declared and known by everyone other than restricting it to leaders.
He said this during a workshop organised by the office of the Presidentโs Directorate of Ethics and Integrity (DEI) in conjunction with the Inspectorate of Government for leaders from the three districts of Buliisa, Masindi and Kiryandongo to sensitise them on anti-corruption laws. He said that the law in its current form has got loopholes.
In response, Genevieve Iribagiza, a legal officer from DEI said it was not practical to have all civil servants to declare their wealth.
