Kampala- Deputy IGG George Bamugemereire has hailed the Inspectorate’s involvement in fighting corruption, a thing he attributed to the less scandals experienced in Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (Nusaf) Phase II project in Karamoja as opposed to the Peace, Recovery and Development Plan projects.
Speaking at a recent workshop in Moroto Town, Mr Bamugemereire said this has been achieved despite little funding and other challenges from government.
Doubled efforts
“As a result of the IGG involvement, there were developments such as raising awareness and emphasising early reporting,” Mr Bamugemereire said, adding that some of the constraints faced include inadequate funding, manpower and other logistical bottlenecks.
The revelation against reduced scams in Karamoja are, however, contrary to recent media reports that the IGG was investigating 100 cases of corruption in Karamoja region.
The workshop, attended by First Lady and minister for Karamoja Affairs Janet Museveni was organised by the IGG and aimed at improving community livelihoods through efficient implementation of the Nusaf Phase II.
