Minister without Portfolio Eng. Abraham Byandala, was on Tuesday charged and remanded to Luzira prison over the sh24b Katosi road scam.

A damning Inspector General of Government (IGG) report pinned Byandala on forcing UNRA to sign and advance a sh24.7b payment to a non-existent firm, EUTAW.

It was discovered by the IGG that the EUTAW construction company that won the tender had no relations to the firm in the US that it had fronted as its parent company to secure the deal.

The IGG, in a report, revealed that Byandala directed UNRA to expeditiously sign the sh165b deal with a non-existent contractor.
