The Inspectorate of Government has asked the Supreme Court to jail former National Forestry Authority (NFA) executive director Damian Akankwasa.

Senior Inspectorate Officer, Rogers Kinobe asked court to dismiss an appeal filed by Akankwasa and uphold his jail sentence.

Kinobe told court presided over by Justices Opio Aweri, Lillian Tibatemwa, Faith Mwondha, Ezekiel Muhanguzi and Mike Chibita in his final submission that Akankwasa’s appeal does not raise any significant issues to warrant acquittal.

Akankwasa was convicted by the Anti-Corruption Magistrates’ Court, Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court in Kololo, Kampala. The Court of Appeal also upheld his conviction and sentence.

He was convicted and found guilty of abuse of office and sentenced to two years in jail. He is currently free on bail.
