Appeared in The New Vision on 11 Jul 2018

The investigations carried out by the Inspector General of Government have revealed that there was manipulation and recruitment of 40 primary school teachers by the Jinja District Service Commission (DSC).

In her report dated June 2018, the IGG, Ms Irene Mulyagonja, says the shortlisting and the entire exercise of recruiting primary school teachers by Jinja DSC was marred by irregularities such as abuse of office, corruption, influence-peddling and nepotism.

According to the IGG, the investigations centred on the verification of the entire process of recruitment of primary school teachers, education assistants by the Jinja DSC in the FY 2017/2018.

The IGG ordered that the recruitment process of education assistants be cancelled and the vacancies re-advertised.
