IGG Cites Fraud In Naads Recruitment

Appeared in The New Vision on 13 Apr 2015

The Inspector General of Government (IGG) is investigating a complaint about irregularities in the recruitment of staff at the secretariat of the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS).

The Deputy IGG, George Bamugemereire raised the matter in a letter dated April 2, addressed to the NAADS board chairperson, Aggrey Bagiire.

According to the letter, the process of recruiting officials to work at the new NAADS secretariat has been marred by irregularities that expose the restructured organisation to corruption.

Bamugemereire states in the letter that the investigation was prompted by a complaint about the process of filling vacant positions.

The IGG also faults the Minister for Agriculture, Tress Bucyanayandi, for interfering with the recruitment process by changing the guidelines.

The IGG recommended a fresh recruitment process for the secretariat staff to guarantee transparency.
