A probe into the alleged malaise surrounding the recruitment of the person to replace Mathew Bukenya as Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Executive Secretary started last week with the IGG grilling the board chairman, Fagil Mandy, for four hours on Thursday.
Mandy is accused of flouting the regulations governing the recruitment process. New Vision learnt that the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Irene Mulyagonja, asked Mandy to shed light on the matter.
On January 15, the IGG wrote to the education ministry accusing Mandy of favouring Dr. John Ntangaare for the position.
Mandy said he appeared before the IGG and that the meeting took four hours. He, however, declined declined to divulge what transpired.
According to IG Spokesperson Munira Ali, the other person who appeared was Dr. Ntangaare. Sources said Dr. Ntangaare was grilled for six hours.
