IGG: I'M Yet To Finish Bagyenda, Kaguhangire Probe

The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) has called for calm, saying investigations into claims of misconduct on the part of Justine Bagyenda and Jolly Kaguhangire are still underway.

Bagyenda recently retired from Bank of Uganda (BoU) where she served as the Executive Director in charge of Supervision.

Activists called for an investigation into the source of her wealth which they said was not commensurate with her known sources of income.

Since then there has been mounting pressure from activists on Mulyagonja to expedite the investigation. The IGG now says action is being taken.

“This is to inform you that the Inspectorate is conducting investigations on allegations of the wealth of Justine Bagyenda, and once complete, the report will be shared with the relevant authorities only,” said the Inspectorate in a press statement issued this weekend.

“The Information that is circulating that the Inspectorate is not conducting the investigations is false,” she added.

Documents circulated on media platforms showed Bagyenda had used her bank accounts to make transactions in billions of shillings.

In addition, said Mulyagonja, “this is to inform you that the Inspectorate is conducting investigations on the recruitment process in UIA and these investigations are on-going.”

She said once concluded, the report will be shared with the relevant authorities as well.

Kaguhangire was recently interdicted by the board of Uganda Investment Authority where she served as Executive Director over alleged corruption.

The Inspectorate of Government said despite giving a position on these matters, some reporters have decided to rely more on other sources than our information.

The Inspectorate said the IGG in person has not had any meetings with the interdicted UIA boss.

“Rather investigators from the Inspectorate of Government went to UIA to collect documents and in the process met the ED of UIA,” reads the statement.
