BUGIRI: The principal assistant secretary of the Parliamentary Commission, Mr. Patrick Wanyama, has been given a 90-day ultimatum to refund Shs28.7 million which he allegedly fraudulently obtained as compensation for the land housing Bukooli College in Bugiri Town Council.

The directive is contained in a February 10 letter signed by the Deputy Inspector General of Government, Mr. George Bamugemereire, and addressed to Mr. Wanyama through the Clerk to Parliament.

Mr. Wanyama is said to have received this money from government after claiming to have been part of the owners of the land on which the school was set up.

Investigations conducted by the IGG have since revealed that though Mr. Wanyama was compensated through Ms Aidha Nangobi, he was never one of the landowners.
