A whistleblower petitioned the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Ms Irene Mulyagonja, urging her to probe allegations of nepotism, job inheritance and the corruption surrounding irregular staff appointments at Makerere University.
The whistleblower also wants the IGG to probe recently concluded job interviews for an internal auditor, university secretary, deputy university secretary, director of human resources, director of estates and university librarian.
In March, Makerere University internally advertised 247 jobs. However, sources say the majority of the positions were quietly filled by sons, daughters and relatives of the university’s top managers.
The IG Spokesperson, Munira Ali, said the Inspectorate will cross-check the whistleblower’s petition and get back to the concerned people.
