The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Justice Irene Mulyagonja, has revealed that she will carry mout extensive and thorough investigations in the ministries of health, energy and local government over suspected syndicated fraud.
Justice Mulyagonja said she is shifting the priority to tackling syndicated fraud as she intensifies the fight against corruption in the Government.
This was during the launch of the Inspectorate of Government’s Strategic Plan on Friday.
Under the new plan, covering the period 2015/16 to 2019/20, the IG, the chief anti-graft agency in the country, will shift its lenses to four high-profile cases, including investigations into the health, energy and local government ministries.
Ethics and Integrity Minister Rev Fr. Simon Lokodo, said they want to ‘clean’ the ministries and they will task public servants with declaring their assets so that “we determine whether or not their salaries are commensurate with the properties they own”.
