The Inspectorate of Government (IG) is investigating irregular salary payments in Iganga municipal council.

This follows a whistleblower’s account that the overpayment of municipal officers as well as related financial mismanagement has allegedly caused a financial loss of about sh600m.

Munira Ali, the IG spokesperson confirmed that a copy of the complaint was received on December 12 last year.

Wilson Buyinza, the whistleblower and Iganga municipal youth leader, said he stumbled across the irregularities while following up on unpaid youth funds.
