The Inspector General of Government (IGG) is investigating Masindi Municipal Council for causing financial loss to government by paying millions of shillings to employees whose positions were restructured or are non-existent in the current government employment structure.

This was disclosed by Joab Busiinge, the mayor Masindi Municipality. He said positions for law enforcement officers and senior assistant records officer were phased out as well as that of assistant community development officer, who has served at Karujubu division since it was still Karujubu Sub County under Masindi district local government.

The mayor said the town clerk who is the municipality’s accounting officer takes responsibility for the loss of government revenue and that is why the IGG has interested herself in investigating the matter.
