The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has intervened in the on-going battles within Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC).

This is after some Commission staff petitioned the IGG over illegalities at the Commission notably property mismanagement and illegal recruitment of staff.

According to sources, the Secretary to the Commission, Gordon Mwesigye, is also being queried on how his contract was controversially extended.

“The IGG has already halted the ongoing construction and management of UHRC property on Buganda Road. It is not business as usual because the IGG has started moving slowly but surely. There is total panic at the Commission,” an anonymous source told Red Pepper last night.
