The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has issued a damning report on the Uganda Aids Commission (UAC) board chairman, Prof Vinand Nantulya, describing his management style as autocratic and recommending that he withdraws from the institution’s secretariat.
The report comes after the IGG probed a complaint against Nantulya accusing him of mismanaging and creating confusion at UAC due to ‘wars’ between him and UAC director general (DG), Dr Christine Ondoa.
In a July 5 dossier, IGG Irene Mulyagonja said findings indicate that Nantulya appears to harbour a deep seated resentment for Ondoa.
The IGG recommended that Nantulya stops holding a permanent office at the secretariat since he is not a member of the commission’s staff as a means to diffuse the conflict between him and the DG. Mulyagonja also recommended that Nantulya refrains from usurping Ondoa’s powers, engaging in conduct undermining the DG and undertakes a professional course on corporate governance to enhance his management skills.
