The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has suspended the prosecution of Kayunga District chairman Thomas Mulondo and his secretary for finance, Mr Muwanga Kisaaliita.
In a letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government, dated April 11, Mr Raphael Bakku said his office had reviewed cases against the accused and decided to withdraw the appeal in the criminal case against the two accused persons, which have been pending before the Court of Appeal.
Mr Mulondo and Mr Kisaaliita were suspended from office in 2007 by the Ministry of Local Government on orders of the IGG, who accused them of abuse of office, corruption and causing financial loss.
The Jinja High Court, however, acquitted the duo but the IGG appealed against the ruling.
โProsecution of the two accused persons has been finally terminated. You are therefore directed to lift the suspension of the two persons to enable them resume office,โ the letter reads in part.
