Leadership Code Tribunal Long Overdue

Appeared in The New Vision on 23 Apr 2015

In support of New Vision’s editorial yesterday titled, Operationalise the Leadership Code Tribunal, I wish to commend the Government’s move to establish this tribunal.

Indeed, establishment of the Leadership Code Tribunal is long overdue and its absence has crippled the efforts of the Inspector General off Government (IGG) to bring to book errant public officials who fail to declare their assets, declare wrong information or fail to account for their wealth.

Parliament in 2005 amended the Constitution to establish the tribunal that would enforce compliance with the Leadership Code and adjudicate over its breaches. To-date, 10 years later, the tribunal does not exist.
