KAMPALA- A former political aide of Ethics and Integrity state minister Simon Lokodo has petitioned the Inspector General of Government to intervene in a matter of his unpaid salary.
Mr Patrosi Lotyang, in his petition dated March 30, that this newspaper has seen, states how he has not been paid his salary for four months out of the two years that he worked for the minister.
Mr Lotyang was initially and temporarily appointment by Fr Lokodo on November 15, 2012, to be his aide in Dodoth West Constituency in Kaabong District.
However, the Public Service Ministry confirmed his appointment in a letter dated August 22, 2014 and he was entitled to a monthly salary of Shs250,000 per month.
But Mr Lotyang’s woes begun on December 2 ,last year when the minister terminated his duties as his political assistant in connection to performance.
Fr Lokodo indicated in his December 2, 2014 letter in which he fired his aide that he would get his salary until November of the same year.
“Following our verbal and formal correspondences over your performance as my political assistant, I am writing to formally inform you that I have terminated your appointment with effect from December 1 2014..” reads in part Lokodo’s letter to his aide.
In his petition to the Ombudsman, Mr Lotyang states that he has tried all possible means to have his money paid to him but the concerned authorities in the Ethics ministry have given him a deaf ear, a move that prompted him to petition the IGG.
He also accuses the minister of being behind this, citing his failure to return the office’s Smartphone, mini laptop, among other office items.
The IGG spokesperson Ali Munira when contacted; confirmed that the complaint had been registered and said it was filed against the Ethics ministry and not father Lokodo as a person.
