The Iganga municipality mayor has been reported to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) for allegedly influencing the sale of the public green zone.

David Balaba, who is accused of selling the land popularly known as Freedom Square to an investor was dragged to the IGG by Wilson Buyinza, a councillor representing Central Division.

In a letter dated July 21, Buyinza accused Balaba of influencing the sale of the 10 acre public piece of land to an investor for construction of private rentals and a school hostel for Iganga High School.

However, Balaba denied being responsible for the sale of the land. He promised to help investigate the matter and said he was ready to face the wrath of the IGG if he took part in the sale of the public land.
