It is no news that the Inspector General of Government (IGG) Irene Mulyagonja declared her wealth to the Speaker of Parliament early this week as required by the Leadership Code of all public servants.

However, upon declaration, the public was left in utter shock when the ombudsman confessed to having no personal car besides her office one.

The revelation sounded like a joke to the audience which waited for clarification but all in vain as it turned out that she was serious.

Noteworthy, she further shocked the press when she admitted to having no personal house as she still shares one with her sister in Kololo, an upscale Kampala suburb.

The audience visibly looked shocked since some had the perception that government officials are paid large sums of money which could have taken care of the IGG’s needs.
