President Yoweri Museveni has met Chinese investors from Guangzhou Dong Song Energy Group to discuss the progress of mineral exploration in Sukulu Hills, Tororo district.
The Chinese investors, who called on the President on Monday evening at State House, Entebbe, discussed matters of mutual interest with the head of state, a statement from State House said.
The meeting comes at a time when the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Justice Irene Mulyagonja, has written to the President detailing flaws her officer found in the award of the mining contract.
In her letter dated July 20, Mulyagonja noted that she compiled the report following a petition by Frontier Exploration Uganda Limited, into the alleged irregular refusal of their application for a mineral exploration licence for Sukulu carbonatite complex.
In their petition, Frontier Exploration argued that awarding the deal to Chinese investors M/s Uganda Hui Neng, was irregularly done. Currently Guangzhou Dongsong Energy Group, which is affiliated to Hui Neng, holds the contract.
