Mbarara Municipal Council has become a hotbed of conflict and intrigue with the latest sucking in the Inspectorate of Government.

In the heated push for the coveted speakership job, councillors from the old divisions have threatened to take the three chairmen from the three divisions of Nyakayojjo, Biharwe and Kakika to the IGG for allegedly signing for allowances that they were not entitled to.

They argue that these chairmen who are Jomo Mugabe, Steven Muganga and Benon Mugume have since 2014 been representing their divisions in the sectoral committees and council meetings and getting transport refund of sh165,000 per sitting.

They say that was illegal since they were fulltime employees of their respective divisions.
