For taking a sh250,000 bribe, he will not get his pension, no employment in public service for 10 years in addition to serving a one-year jail term.
The officer in charge of Kiruhura Police Station in Kiruhura district, Godfrey Bonyo, 45, was yesterday found guilty of demanding a bribe and sentenced accordingly.
The Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate, Sarah Langa Siu, ruled that prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that Bonyo solicited for a bribe.
She said as a Police officer, Bonyo was charged with protecting the public not taking advantage of them.
The prosecution led by Thomas Okoth from the Inspectorate of Government (IG) asked court to impose a custodial sentence on grounds that there is rampant corruption among high-ranking public officers.
Okoth said a harsh sentence would send a clear message to other would-be offenders that crime does not pay.
