The Anti-Corruption Court has ruled that interdicted director of the Parliamentary Budget Office, Mr Samuel Wanyaka, has a case to answer in connection to the alleged theft of Shs822 million from the House.

A total of 28 prosecution witnesses were adduced by the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) all of whom accused Mr Wanyaka of having committed the offences.

The ruling of “no case to answer” was made on last Friday last by presiding judge Paul Mugamba.

The ruling followed the closing of the prosecution’s case led Mr Thomas Okoth. Justice Mugamba observed that the prosecution had established a prema-facie case against Mr Wanyaka before ordering that he commences his defence on March 25.

Mr Wanyaka is facing charges of embezzlement, abuse of office and false accounting. All the alleged offences are believed to have been committed between August 13 and December 9, 2013.

The money in question was meant for service delivery surveys in the country but Mr Wanyaka allegedly embezzled it, which money he had access by virtue of his employment before putting it into his personal use.
