The IGG Should Investigate District Recruitments

Appeared in The Observer on 22 Sep 2014

I had never imagined that our cherished decentralisation policy would end up so cancerous when it comes to job placement. I believe that over 95 percent of the vacancies advertised in the media are taken up by ‘citizens’ from the very districts that advertise.

Then one wonders why such adverts are placed in the papers in the first place. This also applies to appointments or promotions within districts, as preference is given to sons and daughters of the soil, to the chagrin of ‘non-citizens’. It is unpatriotic to give hope to applicants countrywide when you know that you are actually deceitful.

Unfortunately, many such recruits cannot deliver. I urge the Inspector General of Government to investigate this matter.
